(3) Frequency of use and user behaviour

b) Purposes of data processing

The processing of the above-mentioned personal data serves the usage, operation and statistical analysis within the SIMPORT Learning App. The aim is to visualize your location data. For this purpose, the app collects and stores your location data in a database on your device. The collected location history can be visualized on a map. Additionally, the location history is aggregated to identify your home and work location and places you visit frequently.

c) Legal basis for processing personal data

Your consent serves as the legal basis for processing your personal data listed above by the University of Münster, as stipulated by Art. 6 (1, 1a) GDPR and, if applicable, Art. 9 (2a) GDPR.

In principle, your personal data will only be disclosed insofar as the University of Münster is obliged by law or due to a court or official order. The legal basis for this is Art 6 (1, 1c) GDPR.
The SIMPORT Learning App relies on an external service to provide visualizations of the location data collected about you. In order to display your location history on a map, the App uses map tiles provided by CARTO. Map tiles are the background images you see when looking at a map, consisting for example of roads in a city. Requests for map tiles sent by the SIMPORT Learning App to CARTO include your device’s IP address as well as the region for which data is requested. Please refer to https://carto.com/privacy/ for information on how CARTO processes this data.
The SIMPORT Learning App also uses a service (nominatim) of an external provider (Open Street Map) for receiving and displaying address information for the collected location data. The app sends requests using an obfuscation technique where additional, artificially created data, is sent to to Open Street Map. Please refer to https://wiki.osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy for information on how Open Street Map processes this data.

e) Duration of storage of personal data

Your data specified under No. 3 will be stored on your device for the duration that you are using the SIMPORT Learning App. You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting the app from your device, which also deletes the mentioned data.

5. Access and storage of information in terminal equipment

By using the SIMPORT Learning app, information such as the IP address can be accessed or information such as cookies can be stored in your terminal device. This access and storage may involve further processing of personal data within the meaning of the GDPR.
In the event that such access or storage is technically necessary to provide the app, this is done on the basis of section 25 (1, 1), (2, No. 2) TTDSG.
In the event that such access or storage serves other purposes, this is done on the basis of section 25 (1) TTDSG only with your consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1a) GDPR.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority. The responsible supervisory authority is the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen, Postfach 20 04 44, 40102 Düsseldorf, tel: +49 211 / 38424-0, email: poststelle@ldi.nrw.de
